Washington University to Underwrite Season 29 Final Performances
St. Louis (June 17, 2016) – St. Louis’s Gateway Men’s Chorus is pleased to announce that Washington University will underwrite the final performance of the organization’s 29th concert season, Big Gay Sing! Big Gay Sing performs June 17/18 at the Edison Theatre on the campus of Washington University. This raucous musical revue gives loving homage to the divas that shaped their love of music and gave them the courage to be the Proud men’s chorus they are today. Gateway Men's Chorus helps DOORWAYS Residents Celebrate Prom!
St. Louis, MO (June 8, 2015) – On June 12, 2015, Gateway Men’s Chorus will partner with local nonprofit organization DOORWAYS, who are hosting a prom celebration for 50 of its residents from 6‐9 PM at its Soulard location. Final Concert of 28th Season Presented at Edison Theatre
St. Louis, MO (May 29, 2015) –The Gateway Men’s Chorus presents Prom June 19 and 20, a celebration of high school romance and that iconic night for every teenager when the lights turned low, emotions ran hot, and the possibilities were endless. The concert, presented at the Edison Theatre at Washington University closes GMC’s 2014-15 Season and will be the final concert for Artistic Director Al Fischer before he moves to Washington State. In addition to great music, the two-night event will feature prom photos in the lobby, the crowning of a prom court on stage each night, and a special prom “after party” immediately following closing night. Robert Stumpf named next Artistic Director for Gateway Men's Chorus
St. Louis (May 27, 2015) – St. Louis’s Gateway Men’s Chorus announces today that Robert Stumpf will succeed Al Fischer as the organization’s next Artistic Director, effective August 1, 2015. Stumpf currently serves as the Assistant Conductor for the Minneapolis-based Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus. Outgoing Artistic Director Al Fischer leaves GMC after nine years of service to GMC as he prepares for a move to Yakima, Washington, where he has taken a full time teaching job, and will be joining his husband Charlie Robin, who was recently named CEO of the Capitol Theatre. GMC's 4th Annual Cabaret Risque to feature St. Louis native, Kevin Spirtas
St. Louis, MO (March 4, 2015) – The Gateway Men’s Chorus re-introduces St. Louis audiences to one of its favorite sons, television and Broadway star Kevin Spiritas, at its annual gala fundraising event, Cabaret Risqué on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Rialto Ballroom in the Centene Center for the Arts in Grand Center. Audiences will be wowed by an evening of great music, creative cocktail and food pairings, and plenty of risqué fun, at an event which benefits the Gateway Men’s Chorus. The evening features a cabaret performance with Kevin Spirtas, a native St. Louisian who has gone on to a phenomenal career in television and on Broadway, along with two local St. Louis cabaret artists opening the show. Gateway Men’s Chorus and Kansas City’s Heartland Men’s Chorus Join for a One-Night Concert to Celebrate Gay Rights Icon, Harvey Milk
St. Louis, MO (March 6, 2014) - St. Louis’s Gateway Men’s Chorus (GMC) joins voices with Kansas City’s Heartland Men’s Chorus (HMC) for the first time since 1997 for a fun and inspiring evening of music, with I Am Harvey Milk, an original song cycle by Broadway veteran Andrew Lippa, inspired by the life and legacy of Harvey Milk. This one-night only concert in St. Louis will be presented on Saturday, April 5 at 8 p.m. at the 560 Music Center in University City, conducted by GMC’s Artistic Director Al Fischer. GMC Announces Hire of New Executive Director, Tori Gale
St. Louis, MO (October 17, 2013) - The Gateway Men's Chorus (GMC) announces the hire of a new Executive Director, Tori Gale. Tori is a graduate of McKendree University, where she earned her B.A. in Communications with a minor in vocal performance. Through Tori's experience performing at McKendree, she discovered the type of community that can be created when like-minded individuals come together to create music. Her addition to the GMC team will help enable the 27-year old non-profit to continue to grow as it begins the next phase of its strategic planning process. Read More...
