In the Community
The Gateway Men's Chorus exists to portray an artistically viable, memorable, and positive image of the LGBTQIA+ lifestyle. The chorus has the unique ability to depict a particular sector of society in such a way that is entertaining for all and encourages further conversation. Using the universal language of music, biases are broken and a culture of acceptance is fostered through fun and energetic performances.
GMC is a representative of a minority community and to that the organization strives to participate in community engagement events that serve the entire St. Louis community. Individuals from widely diverse backgrounds become exposed to a group of people they may have never otherwise known. With the chorus operating this way in the public eye, a service is done for the advancement of the entire LGBTQIA+ community.
Annually you may see GMC performing at a local church, supporting the annual Pride celebrations, or at a Blues game singing the National Anthem. We partner with a variety of schools, nonprofit organizations, and corporations across the St. Louis Metro to produce community performances that advance our mission and present a positive experience for the community.
Community engagement programs are developed on an ongoing basis and if you’d like to contact GMC about a potential event, please email our Executive Director, Michael Franzoni and our Artistic Director, Jon Garrett.
