Founded in 1987, Gateway Men's Chorus (GMC) affirms and promotes gay culture and acceptance through excellence in musical performance and education. The chorus has distinguished itself in both its breadth of musical repertoire and longevity. GMC is open to anyone, 18 years of age and over, of all backgrounds, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, financial status and levels of musical experience, who sing in the tenor/bass vocal range.
GMC annually presents a 3-concert season in St. Louis, and has performed in Atlanta, Denver, Kansas City, Miami, Montreal, New Orleans, San Jose, Tampa, and even auditioned for America’s Got Talent. In 2012, GMC won FOCUS St. Louis “What’s Right with the Region” Award for improving social justice. GMC is a 501(c)(3) organization, governed by a Board of Directors.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
With direct supervision from the Artistic Director, the Principal Accompanist is responsible for duties including:
With direct supervision from the Artistic Director, the Principal Accompanist is responsible for duties including:
- Accompany weekly choir rehearsals
- Accompany occasional sectional rehearsals and intensives
- Serve as primary keyboardist for concerts and other performances as needed
- Must be available Monday evenings 7 - 10 PM at the Centene Center for the Arts
- Potential travel involved for outreach events/conferences
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Strong keyboard skills in a wide variety of styles
- Experience with multiple keyboards (organ, MainStage, etc.)
- Vocal/choral accompanying experience required
- Ability to improvise/play by ear preferred
- Pit band experience preferred
- Experience working in a collaborative environment
