Gateway Men's Chorus is St. Louis's only men's chorus that makes it its mission to build community around our region's LGBT community. Uniting a group of singers from different backgrounds and different walks of life, GMC provides much-needed outlet for those individuals who wish to exemplify the positive qualities of the LGBT experience in a manner that promotes equality and understanding through musical performance and education.
We are a dues-paying group open to anyone ages 18 & over who sings in the Tenor-Bass vocal range. Scholarships available to qualified candidates. Please contact us for find out more.
Rehearsals are held at The Centene Center for the Arts, located at 3547 Olive Street. Rehearsals run from 7:00pm - 10pm on Mondays.
The audition is an assessment and vocal placement required of all singers. It helps us to better learn your voice, its capabilities, and how we can best help you during your time with Gateway Men's Chorus. It also helps us to know where your voice fits in to the larger picture of the chorus as one voice.
Auditions will consist of a quick sing-through of an easy standard melody (ex "My Country Tis of Thee"), some range checks, a couple of music theory questions, and some exercises to determine your adaptability to instruction. The audition should take no longer than 15 minutes.
Rehearsals for our Spring show, "We Will Rise" will begin in mid December. Keep posted for more information!
